Why I Combined My Blog and Small Business (And Simplified Everything)
For a long time, it felt like I was running two completely separate worlds.
On one side, there was my content creation of my homesteading life, feeding my family, trying to keep up with the house, figuring out how to save money, and constantly resetting when things got out of control.
On the other side, there was my creative business, The Strange Charm. That was where I made things and art, sold products, and tried to build income from home.
And somewhere along the way… I started to feel disconnected.
Like I was splitting myself in half.
What Wasn’t Working
I would sit down to make content and feel stuck.
Was I supposed to talk about recipes?
Decluttering?
My shop?
Making money?
It felt like none of it fit together, even though it was all my real life!
Trying to keep everything separate made it harder to grow anything at all. It was more work, more pressure, and honestly just overwhelming.
The Shift
Eventually, I realized something simple:
My business was never separate from my life.
It came from it.
The recipes I make are because I’m trying to save money.
The systems I build are because I’m trying to keep my house functional.
The things I create and sell are because I needed a way to make income from home.
It’s all connected.
So instead of forcing it into separate boxes, I decided to put everything in one place.
What This Looks Like Now
Now, everything lives here together.
You’ll find:
- easy recipes we actually eat
- simple home systems that make life run smoother
- real life decluttering (not Pinterest-perfect)
- ways I save money and stretch what we have
- and the creative work I do to bring in income
Including my shop, The Strange Charm, where I sell the things I’ve been making for years.
Why This Is Better (For You Too)
This isn’t just about simplifying things for me.
It’s about making this space more useful for you.
Because real life isn’t separated into categories. In reality we are trying to do all these things at the same time.
If you’re trying to:
- get your home under control
- spend less money
- build some kind of income from home
- and just feel a little more on top of things
…it all overlaps.
That’s what I share here.
If You’re New Here
Start simple.
Pick one small thing:
- reset a space
- cook something instead of buying it
- clear out one drawer
That’s how I do it too.
I’m Glad You’re Here
This isn’t a perfect system or a polished life.
It’s just what’s working for me right now, and I’m sharing it as I go.
